Run this medium long event and you’ll learn to like it
I naturally felt compelled to talk out (or write out?) in favor of my favorite running distance.

What is a 10k?
Considered an extended distance race, the 10k, or 6.2 miles. It requires a mixture of speed and endurance which will build your aerobic fitness. A great distance but without beating you up to sort of a marathon, or maybe a half marathon. It’s my personal favorite because it’s long enough that it doesn’t desire a full-on sprint. But short enough to avoid having to bring an excessive amount of gear. It’s fairly easy to squeeze in on apiece day. Here is the small print of why you’ll want to undertake a 10k in 2021:

Why run a 10k?
Accessible distance – 6.2 miles is an attainable goal for many runners to realize. Following a carefully designed training plan, it shouldn’t be so taxing on the joints on cause overuse injuries. In time, even beginning runners can comfortably build to space.
Less time-consuming – it doesn’t take all that much time to run 6.2 miles, even for slower runners. This translates to less time on your feet, which suggests, again, less havoc wreaked on your body. It also means the typical person can fit a 6-mile run, into their schedule. This is often important because you won’t keep to a workout that doesn’t fit into your life.
Time-consuming enough to create fitness. On the opposite hand, you would like your workout to truly assist you, to build or maintain fitness. Therefore the average 10k training plan will do exactly that. It requires enough exercise to satisfy the rules of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which recommends 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. If you get less exercise than this, you’ll not be ready to maintain your fitness. It may cause weight gain and muscle loss, among other health concerns.
Easy to seek out a race – there are many local opportunities to run both in-person and virtual 10k races. Some larger races offer prizes and attract elite athletes; most offer perks like finisher’s medals, t-shirts, pre-race expos, and after-parties (when such activities are allowed; some are curtailed due to COVID). All of those combine to form a memorable event.
Easy to race more frequently. The shorter distance means less training and recovery time compared to a half marathon or marathon. You’ll enter multiple 10k’s within the same period of your time as you’d train for and complete one marathon. This suggests more chances to experience different courses, achieve a PB, and collect medals.
